Naupathia is a problem.

• It’s okay when people think a piece of media is problematic. IT’S OKAY!!! It’s okay to disagree, but it’s not fucking okay to tell them to shut up and stop being offended.
• it’s not okay to purposefully misconstrue their arguments to be something else entirely! (“Nathan is too flamboyant and all of you are homophobic child pornographers” was not at all what was said, Jesus)
• Telling people to get anything negative they have to say out of a tag? Really fucking uncool! I can understand wanting to avoid the drama, but a tag isn’t a territory, you know? Some people who are huge fans of a particular piece of media like to engage with that media in a critical manner, and that is just as valid as being excited and happy about the stuff the show does well.
• Because that is important to understand! That it’s okay to be critical of something that you like! And it’s important to let other people be critical too, even if you disagree with what they are saying. Rebuttals/discussion = good. Nasty anon messages/passive-aggressive posts about how perfect everything is/condescending remarks/telling people that they are WRONG to be offended = not so great.
• I just want to hold everybody in the world and go SHHHHHH SHHHHHHHHH it’s okay that some people don’t think the thing you like is perfect, it’s okay, it can still be wonderful anyway but don’t discount what they’re saying out of hand
